<image:title>Golf Screenings</image:title>
<image:caption>Golf Screening Our physiotherapist Henry, is a Titleist Performance Institute certified practitioner and offers a Modified TPI Golf Screening Assessment. The Golf Screening has been specially put together by Henry, combining key tests from the traditional TPI screening and incorporating some physio-specific tests and is used to analyse your mobility, strength and stability in areas which may be affecting your golf swing. Using the information gathered from these tests, we will discuss how any limitations may be affecting your golf game and begin to develop a personalised exercise program, giving you the tools to move better, become stronger and become a more athletic golfer. Henry aims to help the golfers achieve their goals, whether that be hitting longer drives, increased mobility with their swing or just playing more often with less pain. Your Golf Screening will include: 1 hour 1-on-1 Modified TPI Golf Assessment Video analysis of your swing - linking the assessment findings with your functional swing Individualised strength and mobility program to work towards a more consistent and powerful swing. Follow-up with your golf coach for a complete team approach Please note that the golf screenings are not a technical assessment of your swing. However, by identifying strength or mobility limitations, Henry can discuss these with your golf coach and work as a team to improve your game.</image:caption>

<image:caption>At Sports Physio Ulladulla, we have a special interest in preventing, diagnosing and managing sports injuries including acute, chronic and overuse injuries. Our aim is to return you to your sport and activities stronger and more capable than before. Our physiotherapists are highly experienced across numerous sports including athletics, swimming, netball, soccer, AFL and more. We work closely with many local sporting groups and have created screening assessments to identify any weakness that may predispose you to injury. We use these assessments to then create an appropriate and individualised strengthening program. Where an injury may have been sustained, we place a heavy emphasis on exercise rehabilitation and progressive loading, ensuring you are able to stay involved in your sport during your recovery. We will liaise with coaches where possible to manage your return to training and competitions.</image:caption>

We will liaise with the referring surgeon throughout the process to ensure the best outcome is achieved, and ensure the client understands the timeframes and milestones, particularly returning to sport and activities. Our physiotherapists have experience in managing a range of post-operative conditions such as ACL and meniscus injuries, joint replacements, fracture fixations and shoulder and ankle reconstructions. Depending on the type of surgery and the post-operative protocol, we often see our clients frequently in the early phase of recovery to achieve full range of motion and reduce discomfort and swelling. <image:title>Dry Needling - Dry Needling</image:title>
<image:caption>Dry needling is a great adjunct to physiotherapy treatment. It involves inserting a fine needle (or acupuncture needle) into a myofascial trigger point. Initially, trigger points are produced as a normal, protective physiological measure in the presence of actual or potential muscle damage. However, when these trigger points are sustained it can contribute to pain and loss of range of motion. Pain caused by trigger points is due to lack of oxygen and blood flow within the muscle, which decreases the pH of the muscle. Dry needling of these myofascial trigger points can stimulate a local twitch response – an involuntary spinal cord reflex contraction of the muscle fibres. Triggering this response has been shown to increase oxygen and blood flow to the muscle to restore its natural pH levels, thus alleviating pain. Dry needling can also target deep myofascial trigger points which may be difficult to reach with traditional massage and manual therapy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Running Screenings</image:title>
<image:caption>Running Screenings What is a Running Screening? Running screenings are an assessment of important biomechanics required for running. The goal of the assessment is to highlight any weaknesses or restrictions that may be contributing to or have the potential to contribute to a running-related injury. Who is it for? A running screening can be for all runners, old or young, social or competitive. We have developed different screenings so that your experience is tailored to your running level and your goals. If you are often running through niggles, new to running and looking to improve your 5km time, or a junior athlete looking to take your athletics more seriously, a screening will help you achieve these goals. What does it do? Running at any level is a high load sport and unfortunately, injuries are often part of a runner’s story. Our goal is to identify areas in your body which may be at increased risk of injury with running due to weakness, tightness or instability. By identifying these areas and developing a personalised program, we can reduce the likelihood of injury and help you to achieve your running goals. Whilst we may discuss your running technique, this is primarily the role of a running coach. Following the screening, we can liaise with your coach to work as a team to improve your running. Do I need an injury to do a screening? Not at all! Our screening is used to highlight any areas that may potentially contribute to an injury. We then use the results from the screening to create an individualised exercise program. This may include stretches, mobility exercises or strength training. However, if you happen to have an injury whilst performing the screening, it may also help to highlight to you the reasoning behind the injury. How will I know if I am improving? During the screening, you will be given a program to help improve any areas of concern. Depending on the findings, we often recommend following up with the Physiotherapist after a few weeks of the program to assess progress and make any necessary changes. Why do a Running Screening at Sports Physio Ulladulla? Our Physiotherapists have all been involved with everything from social to elite level runners. With experience working with Athletics NSW and many national level athletes, we have developed this screening utilising this experience with the number 1 goal of keeping you running.</image:caption>

<image:title>Swimming Screenings</image:title>
<image:caption>Swimming Screenings What is a Swimming Screening? Efficient swimming is the combination of achieving the necessary positions for each part of the stroke, and then having the strength and stability to pull yourself through the water. Swimming screenings are an assessment of important biomechanics required to swim efficiently. The assessment will highlight weaknesses or restrictions that may lead to injury or may be limiting your performance. Who is it for? A swimming screening is for anyone who is involved in swimming, whether you are a Junior Club swimmer competing at State or National Level, or a social open water swimmer, we have different screenings based on different needs. Our physiotherapists are aware different age groups and performance goals have different biomechanical needs, and our screenings will adapt to this. What do we assess? Swimmers are often exposed to high training loads and because of this, poor biomechanics can lead to overuse injuries in the shoulder, neck, lumbar spine and occasionally in the hip and knee. Our assessment will look at each of these areas with the aim to reduce the risk of an injury as well as increase performance. Whilst we may discuss your swimming technique, this is primarily the role of a swimming coach. Following the screening, we can liaise with your coach to work as a team to improve your swimming. Do I need an injury to do a screening? Not at all! Our screening is used to highlight any areas that may potentially contribute to an injury. We then use the results from the screening to create an individualised, dry-land exercise program. This may include stretches, mobility exercises or strength training. However, if you happen to have an injury whilst performing the screening, it may also help to highlight to you the reasoning behind the injury. How will I know if I am improving? During the screening, you will be given a program to help improve any areas of concern. <image:title>Surf Screenings</image:title>
<image:caption>Surf Screenings What is a Surf Screening? Critical surfing requires a combination of upper & lower body strength, posture and key joint ranges of motion to get your body into the necessary positions to surf well. Surf Screenings involve assessing joint ranges of motion, strength and movement patterns specific to surfing. The assessment will highlight weaknesses or restrictions that may lead to injury or may be limiting your performance. Who is it for? A Surf Screening is for anyone that surfs, whether it be beginner, intermediate or advanced. whether you are just learning to surf or looking to take the next step from intermediate to advanced, we have different screenings based on different needs. Our physiotherapists are aware of different levels of surfing, age groups and their different biomechanical needs by tailoring our screenings to the individuals need. What do I get out of a Surf Screen? You’ll walk away with an individualised exercise program targeted towards the areas highlighted in the screen. It is also a good overview of your baseline, this means we will have good statistics of your body pre-injury. If you do get injured in the future, we will know what numbers we are aiming for before getting you back in the water. What do we assess? Surfers are often exposed to big increases in load; surf as much as you can in a 3 day window, while the surf is good. Followed by 1-2 weeks of not too motivating conditions and repeat. The inconsistent nature of surfing is what can cause common overuse injuries in the shoulder, neck, lumbar spine and occasionally in the hip and knee. Our assessment will look at the strength and range of motion at each of these areas with the aim to reduce the risk of an injury as well as increase performance. We also assess breath hold capacity and look to improve surfers ability to handle a long hold down. How will I know if I am improving? During the screening, you will be given a program to help improve any areas of concern. Depending on the findings, we often recommend following up with the Physiotherapist after 1-2 months of completing the surf specific exercise program to assess progress and make any necessary changes. Why do a Surf Screening at Sports Physio Ulladulla? Our Physiotherapist has been surfing for the last 25 years and has been involved with both social and elite level surfers. From having experience working in the Mentawii’s, URBNSURF and Holistica Movement Lvl 1 qualifications our physiotherapist has first hand experience meaning they understand the unique physical demands of the sport. We have developed this screening tool utilising this experience with the number 1 goal of keeping you in the water.</image:caption>
