Osteo Strong
What is Osteo Strong?
Osteo Strong is a small group exercise class designed with the latest scientific research in mind, to help combat the effects of menopause, ageing and osteoporosis.
Classes will be run by Sophie, our Exercise Physiologist, who will teach you how to perform exercises correctly, and educate you on the importance of exercise for bone health. There will be a maximum of 5 participants per class, to ensure all members are well supervised.
The class will run in a 6 week block, allowing you to build confidence in lifting weights, progress your strength and attend sessions consistently. When building bone density, research states that resistance training 2x per week is optimal. Bone is not built overnight, and requires consistent training to maintain the benefits.
What does the class involve?
There are two types of movements that have been shown to be most effective when it comes to building strong bones; resistance training and impact exercises.
Our classes will follow the structure below:
Warm up/mobility
Key resistance exercises: squats, overhead press and deadlifts
Complimentary exercises (including impact exercises) to improve balance, posture and core strength
Who is the class for?
This class is for women of any age who may:
